ERIC CARLEEric Carle is an American designer, illustrator,
and writer of children's books. His first book was Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? These colorful animals marked the beginning of Carle's career in 1967. He is a master of collage using cut pieces of paper glued together to create each picture. Carle cuts paper into the shapes he wants after he draws each character. He has illustrated more than 70 books, most of which he also wrote, and more than 145 million copies of his books have been sold around the world. |

LOIS EHLERTLois Ehlert is an author and illustrator of children's books, most having to do with nature. Ehlert won the
Caldecott Honor for "Color Zoo" in 1990. When she creates a new book, Ehlert begins with a book made from pencil drawings then she determines the subject matter and does background research. Afterwards, she will begin her artwork, which involves cutting out pieces of paper individually and gluing them on the pages of her book. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a bestselling children's book written by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault, illustrated by Lois Ehlert. In 1992, an album composed of several songs based on the storybook, entitled "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Other Coconutty Songs" was named a 'Notable Children’s Recording' by the American Library Association and in 1993, won a Parents' Choice Award. |

JACQUELINE WOODSON Woodson is a writer of books for children and adolescents. She is best known for her Newbery Honor-winning chapter books. She has written many children's picture books,
young adult fiction, adult novels, poetry, and essays. Woodson served as the Young People's Poet Laureate from 2015-2017 and was named the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, by the Library of Congress, for 2018–19. She is a three time Coretta Scott King Award winner and received the 2014 National Book Award in Young People's Literature. Woodson lives in Brooklyn with her partner, Juliet, and their two children. |
